Historical Background
The Border Collie was established approximately 100 years ago in the countryside bordering Scotland and England. Through selective breeding, the breed developed exceptional intensity, stamina, intelligence, and trainability. From its origins, the Border Collie has been bred primarily for working ability rather than appearance. To this day, the breed is most commonly evaluated in herding and working trials rather than conformation shows.
