The Lambdown Park Festival was a beloved annual celebration of sheep, wool, and rural heritage, bringing together producers, fibre enthusiasts, families, and community members for a day of education, connection, and hands-on experiences.
Held at Lambdown Park, the festival showcased the importance of the Canadian sheep and wool industry through live demonstrations, sheep displays, shearing presentations, fibre arts, and interactive activities for all ages. Visitors had the opportunity to learn where wool comes from, how it is processed, and how it is transformed into the products we use every day.
The event also created a space for local vendors, artisans, and agricultural organizations to share their knowledge and craftsmanship, helping bridge the gap between producers and consumers while promoting Canadian wool.
Although the festival has not been held since 2020, it remains a meaningful part of our history. Lambdown Park Festival represented community spirit, agricultural pride, and a shared commitment to celebrating and supporting the wool industry in Canada.
The Lambdown Park Festival was designed as a family-oriented community celebration with something for everyone to enjoy. The event brought together agriculture, fibre arts, local food, music, and hands-on activities in a welcoming outdoor setting.
Visitors could start the day with a Pancake Breakfast before exploring live sheep shearing demonstrations and learning more about the wool industry. Fibre artists showcased their talents through spinning, weaving, and knitting demonstrations, while displays such as Knit Knockers for Breast Cancer highlighted meaningful community initiatives.
Families enjoyed pony rides, a lively Kids Corner featuring hay bale pyramids and corn “sand” boxes, and even unique experiences like Goat Yoga. Throughout the grounds, guests could browse local craft vendors, enjoy delicious offerings from food vendors, relax in the Stalwart Craft Beer Tent, and take in live music performances. Sidewalk sales and local business participation added to the vibrant atmosphere.
Above all, the festival celebrated rural heritage, community spirit, and the many ways sheep and wool connect people — all in a fun, inclusive environment that welcomed visitors of all ages.
